Happy Feast Day, dear St. Padre Pio! His day began at 2:30 a.m. to begin prayer. He never took a vacation in 51 years. He never read a newspaper or listened to radio and cautioned his spiritual children of watching TV. A living example of Jesus! ~ Like a boss!
On Sept. 23, the Catholic Church remembers the Italian Franciscan priest St. Pio of Petrelcina, better known as “Padre Pio” and known for his suffering, humility and miracles. https://bit.ly/3PvqZ5g
The Observance of Saint Padre Pio honors the canonized Catholic friar known for his religious devotion, miraculous works, and the stigmata he visibly bore. It gives the opportunity to Catholics, and anyone moved by the saint's life story, to recognize his teachings, works, and strengthening faith.
Born as Francesco Forgione in 1887, the future Saint Padre Pio entered the Capuchin order at a young age and was ordained as a priest in 1910. He gained wide-spread recognition for his pious life, and following his death in 1968, his renown only grew. He was canonized by the Catholic Church in 2002, and is particularly known for the gifts of healing and prophecy, as well as for the stigmata - the miraculous bearing of Christ’s crucifixion wounds - which he carried for over 50 years.
Celebrated primarily in Catholic communities, the Observance of Saint Padre Pio includes mass services, prayer gatherings, and acts of charity reflecting his profound commitment to helping the needy. His teachings continue to provide guidance for numerous Catholics and believers worldwide. The saint's observance occurs yearly on September 23, marking the anniversary of his passing.
Saint Padre Pio facts
According to The Mystical Humanity of Christ, in the early days of his priestly ministry, Padre Pio often spent lengthy times in the confessional. Once his reputation spread, his confession lines grew until the average waiting time was ten days. It got to the point that the Capuchins implemented a ticketing system starting in 1950. Despite his fame and demand on his time, he had a remarkable way of focusing on each penitent as they came to be healed from sin.
Pray, hope, and don't worry. Saint Pade Pio
Padre Pio is famously associated with the phenomenon of stigmata. He was the first priest in the history of the Catholic Church to bear physical signs associated with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

The authenticity of Padre Pio’s stigmata was questioned by the church throughout his life. At one point, he was forbidden from saying Mass in public and was only allowed to speak to his close Capuchin brothers.
