Shakespeare Day commemorates the birth of who many consider England's greatest poet, playwright, and dramatist. William Shakespeare was born 23 April, 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon in England. He saw major success in his 20s & 30s as an actor and writer. Some of his most notable works are his tragedies such as Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet. Shakespeare’s work continues to be read and studied by many students around the world. He is hailed by many as the greatest writer in the English language.

Shakespeare Day seems to have been started in 2016 as a commemorative day for Shakespeare. It is observed annually on April 23.
